Our Spiritual Nature

What is our spiritual nature?

The spiritual nature of humans is that they are self-aware spiritual beings, endowed with consciousness, with unlimited potential. This can obviously not be proven by material means, or with scientific instruments. However, our spiritual nature comes to expression in various ways, which we can sense and observe ourselves, with our own spiritual faculties. The most obvious of these are the qualities of the heart, such as compassion, generosity, conscience, selflessness, discernment, sense of ethics and spiritual values, and the inborn quest for a higher way of life and reality. Creativity is another expression of our spiritual nature. And, the sense that humans have infinite value, and can not be put below any material values, no matter how large, is just another indication that we are more than material beings.

Many people get direct proof inside themselves in various ways of their spiritual nature. Such discoveries can not be proven by scientific means, in the way science is generally defined currently. However, the fact that quantum physics states that microcosmic events are dependent on the observer, clearly shows that even traditional science is moving toward accepting consciousness as a reality in itself. From consciousness to spiritual beings, the step is very short.

This web site will not consider what reality might or might not exist beyond the material dimension. It would just detract from its mission, which is to help children spiritually. However, we will need to consider a basic view of humans as spiritual beings. In short, one can say that we all have an inborn divinity, which is what gives us unlimited potential and value. This divine aspect of ourselves is what enables us to look beyond material conditions and considerations, to seek and find higher values. Since this divine aspect is common to all humans, it further enables us to see a commonness and sense of oneness between all people, and also in all life, regardless of outer differences. The divine nature of ourselves seeks to lift up all life, not just ourselves.

The spiritual, or divine part of ourselves must be nurtured in order to come to expression. It will not come to expression if we focus our attention in a one-sided way on material things, on selfish pursuits, or if we put down others. If we focus ourselves in such ways in life, we will instead develop aspects in our psychology that will hinder our spiritual growth, instead of helping it. We will develop artificial desires and addictions, which will obscure our divine nature. This will limit our freedom.

On the other hand, if we focus our attention on higher values in life, and are inspired by others to do so, then we will tap into our higher nature. When we do this, we will express ourselves in ways that are constructive and uplifting to others and ourselves. We will gain more freedom, both spiritually in developing our talents, and we will become successful in our outer pursuits as well.
